nbc reports on the future of the republican's newest health care law after mccain says no. >> reporter: it's not a fatal blow but arizona republican senator john mccain says he will not vote for his party's latest effort to repeal and replace the affordable care act. mccain says there are too many unknowns for him to support the graham/cassidy bill, and called for a bipartisan effort to fix obamacare. writing, quote, i believe we could do better working together, republicans and democrats, and have not yet really tried. >> mccain, as we saw in his lengthy statement today, has issues with this bill. he said he can't in good conscious vote for it. >> reporter: mccain joins kentucky's rand paul in opposing the bill. one more republican no vote and the bill would be dead. maine's susan collins says she's leaning toward voting no, as well. earlier, president trump projected confidence the republican's seven-year effort to repeal obamacare would finally happen. friday night at a campaign event in alabama, trump

"meet the press" airs every sunday here on nbc 4 at 10:30. this just in. president donald trump tweeting his withdrawal of the white house invitation to the golden state warriors. many members of the nba championship team expressed displeasure of attending if he invited the team. that includes prince george's county native, kevin durant, who led the team to the title in june. the moments of their win, rumors of a white house boycott surfaced. here's what they had to say at the team's media day on friday. >> it'll be tough to change my mind. we'll talk about it as a team and figure out the next steps from there. >> by acting or in not going, hopefully that will inspire some change when it comes to what we tolerate in this country. >> again, donald trump

man, it is a huge turnout. that is awesome. >> i'd say to roll the windows down, but it is a little warm for that. >> temperatures in the 70s today. we continue to go ahead and warm everything up. let's show you the maps right now and show you what's going on out there. beautiful morning. look at that. gorgeous. it was a beautiful sunrise behind you earlier for the earlier show. you know, the sun came up, a little before 7:00. beautiful. we'll have sunshine throughout the day. maybe a few, thin clouds, as you can see here and there. for the most part, we're looking good. dense fog. some to the south and west. that's about it. the sunshine is burning a lot of that off. a touch of humidity today but more humidity throughout the day tomorrow. we're still watching maria. if you like the summertime heat, soak it up now. we do have a break in this warm spell. that happens on friday. a front is coming through the

the front bringing snow to the upper midwest. that'll be pulling through here, dropping our temperatures and scoot ing maria out to sea. the temperatures, lower 60s to 70s. few, high, thin clouds, but that's about it. mid 80s today. it is going to be beautiful, sunny and warm. again, a touch of humidity. we'll keep clear skies going into the overnight. it is going to be a perfect etchietch i -- evening out there. comfortable and mild. tomorrow, temperatures in the upper 80s. should we call it hot tomorrow? average temperature is 77. again, the humidity builds throughout the day. we're watching the tropics, of course. this is hurricane maria. turks and caicos. just north right now. it is a category 3 hurricane. what's happening, we're getting a little shear, especially the southwestern corner, and the winds are swifting iswitching t directions, tearing it apart,

still a category 3. it weakens more through mid next week. once it is off the coast of north carolina and virginia wednesday and thursday, it's down to a category 1. the water temperature is a little cooler because of jose. but this is the cone of uncertainty. so it can move anywhere within that. again, that's why we continue to watch it for wednesday and thursday of next week. this frontal system will eventually push it out. the frontal system is coming through thursday, friday night. look what happens to the temperatures. they drop all the way through the weekend. enjoy these warm temperatures that we're seeing out there right now. it is wonderful. she was too much. it wasn't fair. that's what i like to think about her being on the uk version of this show. it wasn't fair for everybody else. >> jhud joining the judging panel on "the voice." >> we'll have more on what you have to look forward to for this upcoming season when we c

at this time, right now, preliminary 6.2 magnitude earthquake, relatively shallow in depth, in mexico. this is a place that is still reeling from the massive quake from earlier on. >> they are dealing with nearly 300 people losing their lives. this is in the center of mexico. no doubt because of the size of

an aftershock, mind you, it is no doubt being felt in mexico city where we have seen all that cleanup and folks still desperately going into this fifth day, trying to find anyone who may be trapped and still alive, clinging to life. the folks in mexico dealing with more this morning. >> they are, even though time is running out, they are still finding survivors in there. we know that one of the big stories to come out was the collapse of the school, where so many children lost their lives, as will. this is devastating. aftershocks, a real issue and problem. a real fear right now as we can see why this morning. ♪ oh, she may be weary ♪ young girls, they do get weary ♪ ♪ weary >> congratulations. >> is it weird when i watch the show, i feel i'm in a chair, too? i close my
